Torino, Cupola di Guarino Guarini (1680) - Guarini's dome

Per scoprire questa meravigliosa cupola del Guarini, occorre credere che dietro la facciata anonima della chiesa di S.Lorenzo, si possa nascondere un simile capolavoro.

In order to discover this marvellous Guarini's dome, we have to challenge our imagination beyond the anonymous facade of S.Lorenzo's church, so difficult is to believe that such a masterpiece can be hidden there!
Afin de décrouvir la merveilleuse cupola de Guarino Guarini, nous devons pousser notre imagination au delà de la façade anonyme de l'eglise de S.Lorenzo pour considérer qu'un tel chef-d'ouvre peut être caché là!

Guarino Guarini, appassionato d'arte e laureato in architettura era un monaco teatino.
La chiesa di S.Lorenzo fu costruita per adempiere ad un voto formulato da Emanuele Filiberto e da Filippo II di Spagna alla vigilia della battaglia di San Quintino contro i francesi (10 agosto 1557).
A Madrid Filippo II farà costruire l'Escorial con annessa la chiesa dedicata a S.Lorenzo.

Art passionate and architecture graduate, Guarino Guarini was also a teatino's monk.
S.Lorenzo's church was built in Turin, to fulfil a vow formulated by Emanuele Filiberto and Philip II king of Spain on the eve of S.Quentin's battle against the French (10th of August 1557).
In Madrid, Philip II built the Escorial with annexed a church dedicated to S.Lorenzo.

Guarino Guarini, passioné d'art et licencié ès architecture, etait un moine teatino.
L'église de S.Lorenzo fut construite pour accomplir un vote formulé de Emanuele Filiberto et de Philippe d'Espagne pendant la veille de la bataille de S.Quintino contre les Français (10 août 1557). À Madrid Philippe II il fera construire l'Escorial avec annexe l'église dédiée à S.Lorenzo.

Torino, Cannonate francesi sulla Consolata (1706) - French gunshot on Consolata wall

"A più riprese i Francesi hanno dichiarato di aver visto sui bastioni e sulla chiesa della Consolata una venerabile Dama che ricacciava i proiettili contro chi li tirava."
(da L'assedio di Fabio Galvano - UTET) .

"Several the French declared of having seen a venerable Lady on the bastions and over the Consolata's church driving projectiles back to those who shot them."
Fr-"À plusieurs reprises les Français ont déclaré d'avoir vu sur les bastions et sur l'église de la Consolata une vénérable Dame qui rechassait les projectiles contre qui il les tirait."

La data riportata sul riquadro del muro della Consolata è presumibilmente errata poichè l'assedio dei francesi a Torino iniziò nel 1705 e terminò nel settembre del 1706.

Presumably the date engraved in the table on the Consolata's church wall is wrong, because the Turin French's siege began in 1705 and finished in september 1706.
Fr- La date indiquée sur le tableau gravée sur le mur de l'eglise de la Consolata, présumablement n'est pas correct, car l'assiège des français à Turin commenca le 1705 et il finit le septembre de 1706.

Torino, Reggia della Venaria


Questa che sembra una cupola, per la verità è un magnifico trompe l'oeil che si può ammirare nella cappella di S.Uberto della reggia di Venaria alla Mandria.


What looks like a dome is instead a superb trompe l'oeil, that can be admired in the chapel of S.Uberto in the royal residence of Venaria within the park of La Mandria.

Celle-ci qui semble une Cupola, réellement est un magnifique trompe l'oeil admirable dans la chapelle de S.Uberto du palais royal de Venaria à la Mandria.
