This historical railway has been in operation since 26 April 1884. Originally the trains was hauled up by a steel cable parallel the track. In 1934 the line was converted into a central traction rack railway.
Le vieux tramway est actif depuis le 26 Avril 1884, Les vagons du funiculair étaint trainés par un cable en acier, passant parallèlement à la voie. En 1934 la ligne a été transformée en tramway a crémallière avec traction par un rail central.La storica tramvia è attiva fin dal 26 Aprile 1884. I vagoni della funicolare erano trainati da una funa d'acciaio che scorreva parallelamente al binario. La linea è trasformata nel 1934 in tranvia a dentiera. Il percorso si sviluppa per 3100m con un dislivello di 425m e una pendenza media del 13,5% con punte del 21% nel tratto finale tra Pian Gambino e la stazione di Superga.

The owner of Villa Isola was of Italian descent of the Barretty family. That's why he gave his villa the Italian name. I think much of the interior design of the building is also Italian.

I like trains like this. It reminds me of one that goes up Pike's Peak, but that is a cog train. One knows it will be a fun day when on such a train. Colorful pictures.
