The large crowd that today was visiting the book fair suggests me that the mediocrity of the broadcasted TV programmes more and more should drive people towards reading. Yet the overwhelming majority of Italians still prefers the small screen and unfortunately we realized this after the result of the last Italian general elections. Does this happen in your Country too?
L'enorme quantità di persone che visitavano oggi il salone del libro mi fa pensare che l'idiozia dei programmi trasmessi dalla televisione spinge sempre più gente a leggere. Purtroppo ancora la stragrande maggioranza degli italiani preferisce il piccolo schermo e questo lo si evince dal risultato delle ultime elezioni Italiane.

Oh yes, that happens here in the USA! Program offerings on TV are atrocious....I rarely watch it these days.
But bookstores are still popular (thank goodness!) although there are so many people who never read even one book a year!
That tower of books fascinates me....

TV here in the US is getting worse. Most TV that I watch is the History Channel and Discovery Channel. I am a retired scientist and engineer. Martha is a retired teacher, but still teaches part-time in a learning academy. We both read a lot of books, Everything.
