The castle was constructed by Carlo di Castellamonte (1630) for will of Maria Cristina Borbone of France (know as Madama Cristina)
Young wife of Vittorio Amadeo I. The castle is a transformation in French style of a former palace of the 1500. Valentino castle was a royal palace for a short historical time, then 
reduced to simple villa on the river. During the Napoleonic occupation it turned into a veterinary School, later on barracks, afterwards center of trade exhibition and from the 1906 Technical college for Engineers, today is Faculty of Architecture.Le château fut construit de Carlo de Castellamonte (1630) par désir de Marie Cristina Borbone de France (dite Madama Cristina) femme tres jeune de Vittorio Amadeo I. royal d'un brèf période historique, ensuite réduite à simple villa sur le fleuve. Pendant l'occupation de Napoleon École de vétérinaire, en suite caserne, siège d'expositions et de 1906 École d'Application d'Ingénieurs, aujourd'hui est la faculté d'Architecture.
Il castello fu costruito da Carlo di Castellamonte (1630) per desiderio di Maria Cristina Borbone di Francia (detta Madama Cristina) moglie giovanissima di Vittorio Amadeo I. Il castello è la trasformazione in stile francese di un preesistente palazzo del 1500. Fu reggia per un breve periodo storico poi ridotto a semplice villa sul fiume. Durante l'occupazione Napoleonica divenne Scuola di veterinaria, in seguito caserma, sede di esposizioni e dal 1906 Scuola di Applicazione per Ingenieri, oggi ospita la facoltà di Architettura.
